Running Forward

Two years ago, I felt led to try something new, running. Prior to that leading, I had no desire to run. My exercise routine consisted of walking our dogs for approximately one-half mile twice a day. That’s about it. I was not in shape and my forty-something body was beginning to show signs of neglect. Suddenly, I had this desire to run a half-marathon. I didn’t think that I could do it, but I knew that if it was God’s plan, that He could do it.

Fast forward to today. God has transformed me into a runner. I have completed several races, including a half-marathon, and am registered to do another half-marathon this spring. My fitness level is at an all-time high and I feel extremely blessed. A few months ago, I felt a desire to write about running. Since I didn’t have a platform to do so, I created Why She Runs.

With my oldest child approaching graduation and my youngest just a few years behind, my homeschooling days are winding down. I’m excited that God is leading me on a new path. Just a few years ago, I never would have considered running. That was something other people did, younger people. Now I know that running has no age requirements. If you feel led to run, find a training plan for beginners and start today. It will change your life!
